Legendary Detroit House & Techno Producer Kelli Hand, Popularly known as K-Hand passes away at 56. Kelli Hand, popularly known as K-Hand passes away at 56. Detroit House & Techno Producer, founder of Acacia records K-Hand was was dubbed “the First Lady of Detroit” for her unrivalled contribution in the dance music scene globally.


As music industry worldwide mourn her death, her legacy left behind will be a reminder of her unchallenged work and the idol she had become. With roots deep in Detroit, K-Hand earned the title of “First Lady” of her hometown by the city’s council in 2017. The title was conferred in recognition to her invaluable contribution as an African-American female producer and DJ in the then much male-dominated dance music scene locally.


Her music had immortalised her name and though the body may vanish, but her music and work will continue to celebrate the figure she became, the inspiration she is and the legend she grew to be.
