We Sifted through a bucket load of amazing tracks submitted to Songdew by artists for a chance to win a feature on Melody Insider. The Lunar Keys is one such artist who’s track stood out for what is undoubtedly a meritorious one. And since the track is what made The Lunar Keys one of the winners, we bring forth this interview which talks about, among other things, the very track that got him here.

Congratulations on being selected as Winner of the Songdew contest. Tell us about the song that you submitted.

Our current single ‘Stop This’ was produced by The Lunar Keys and Simon Wiley and mastered by John Davis (The Killers, U2, Royal Blood). The song charts the darker side of human emotions, the fact that we’re not always in the driving seat when it comes to our thoughts and feelings. It’s a shout-out to all those affected and a call to arms to confront our challenges.

How did you come to know about Songdew and the contest?

I believe we responded to an e-mail you sent. We’re always keen to reach out and spread Lunar Love.

If you were to introduce your music and genre to someone unaware of your music, how would you?

We’re a rock band that passionately craft heartfelt songs with a classic timeless feel and a contemporary twist.

How long have you been producing and performing?

We all started young and feel very privileged to be doing what we’re doing. Music is our life blood, our soul food, our haven.

Tell us something about your latest single. Inspiration behind the name and the project.

Our latest single is also the winning single, “Stop This“. We plain and simply liked the sound of it. THE LUNAR KEYS! To add further meaning: The moon has a big influence on key areas of our lives (the tides, our moods, navigation to name but a few). So in that sense the name harbours the hope that our music will positively influence and affect our listeners.

One artist you’d like to collaborate with, but you know it’s not the right time now.

There are 4 artists in The Lunar Keys: JC, Lexi, The Steve and Dom. We all love collaborating with each other: Now, tomorrow and hopefully for a long time to come. Up the Lunars!

According to you, what does it take to earn the acclaimed badge of “Established Artist”?

Optimism, tenacity, honesty, luck and oodles of hard work. To ensure longevity however it is key to keep travelling beyond ‘established’

How has your place of Origin been an influence on your music?

We’re lucky to have grown up surrounded by the UK’s rich musical heritage. Local support is key and we’ve been very lucky in this aspect: our first ever London show was sold out

How are the psychological rewards in this career you have chosen?

There is nothing better than doing something you love doing and to then find that other people derive pleasure from it too.

An artist whose music according to you is attracting international attention which is going to propel the industry’s growth.

The Lunar Keys 😉

If we speak to you again exactly this date 5 years from now, How different are all the above answers going to be?

We look forward to catching up then to compare.

Well, thank you once again for spending time with us, giving us valuable insight into your career. We wish you all the very best of luck in your endeavors. See you soon at a Concert.

Same to you and thank you for your interest in The Lunar Keys.
